Thanks, Michael.

I believe scientists ARE working hard on technology that will detect and deal with any incoming cosmic bodies...whether asteroids, meteors or comets. I've seen shows on the Discovery Channel (and others) that talk about the progress that's being made in this area. So if we should be surprised by something like this in 2012, we'll at least have a basic idea what we might do to at least deflect it. Maybe minimize the damage, if we're not fast enough or technologically advanced enough to avert it altogether.

What about utilizing the many satilights that circle the Earth to somehow focus energy of some sort towards any solar flairs that occur. I do not know of the exact technology required, yet there may be something which is viable. It is radiation and maybe lazer deflection or diversion could help prevent the effects on our atmosphere.
Something that obsorbs radiation or disburses it.

Anyway, I was just thinking and hope this information may help.

As for Astroids or Meteours, maybe some sort of Starwars type program, that would blast anything that approaches Earth.

Again, just an idea, I am putting it out there for others to think about.

Peace, MC
